How to migrate Outlook Email Contacts?

Email Migration is an easy process whereby an existing email or multiple emails are migrated into another email account. An equivalent word is Mailbox Migration, where in tasks like appointments, emails or contacts can also be migrated to other mailboxes.

Types of Email Migration Services

There are two types of email migration available to users. The first is to migrate an entire mailbox and the second is to only migrate certain sections of an existing mailbox. In this article I am going to explain how to migrate an entire mailbox and then move your contacts.

STEP 1:

Firstly you should first of all check your email accounts. If you are currently using Outlook Express and the migration program that you use is Exchange Migration Wizard, then you will have the option of a Migration Wizard to help you with this process. The process is fairly simple and consists of the migration of all the email folders and the addition of new mailboxes. The Migration Wizard works for all Microsoft Exchange versions and is free to download.

To begin the migration wizard, simply click on the ‘Migrate’ button and follow the prompts to complete the migration. The wizard will then provide a list of newly created mailboxes, including the addresses, contact details, preferences and passwords.

Once you have successfully completed the migration, you should set up your new email account by creating a new password. It is always a good idea to create a password on the site in case you need to restore any passwords at a later date.

STEP 2:

Next, you should move any attachments in your email account to your new migration mailbox. You can choose to import attachments from the new migration mailbox or manually copy the attachments to the new folder on your primary mail account.

Once you have done that, you can now delete the attachments in the new email account. You should also set up the new email account so that your user name and password are both the same as they were when you were logged into the Outlook Express main page.

After setting up the migration, you should open the migration tool and allow it to complete the migration. In order to complete the migration, you will receive a confirmation message that your email account has been migrated successfully.

STEP 3:

Once you receive this confirmation message, you should then be able to log in to your email account and find your mailboxes listed in the sidebar pane. The names and emails that you can see should be the same as those you have in your primary mailbox.

Now, to move your contacts, you should click on the migration button in the sidebar and then choose ‘Migrate Contacts’ from the drop down menu. This should provide you with a list of all your email contacts that are associated with the new migration mailbox.

Once you have completed this step, you will then be able to locate the contact that you wish to move and click on the option to migrate them. The migration process will then update the migration status of your primary email account and the new contacts should appear in the sidebar pane.

To view the migration status of the new migration account, you should click the check boxes next to each contact that you wish to migrate and click on the ‘Migrate’ button at the bottom of the pane. When the migration is complete, click on the button to verify the migration status and then click on the ‘OK’ button in order to complete the migration.

Now that you have successfully completed the migration, you can verify the migration status of your primary email account. To do this, click on the migration button and then click the ‘My Account’ button to view the migration history. You will then find that all your email account contacts have been moved from the primary account into the new migration account.
